Butts invented a board game using letter tiles and a scoring system. He first called it “Lexico” and then “Criss Cross Words,” but it wasn't really known until he teamed up with entrepreneur James Brunot, who trademarked it under the name “Scrabble.” The game, with its new name, first rolled off the production line in 1948 and has been a smash hit ever since.<br><br> This deluxe library edition is inspired by the classic graphics of the original 1948 game.
